Commission A Painting

Commissioning a painting by Patrice is a journey of collaboration and connection. The process begins with a heartfelt conversation where the vision, emotions and intention behind the subject are discussed. Patrice has an innate ability to grasp the essence of the story to be painted.

Patrice has mastered four different mediums in her forty years of painting which include oil, acrylic, watercolor and ink.

• OIL provides depth and a softness that no other medium offers. The process of painting takes much longer due to the slow nature of drying time needed for layering. This is why it is the most expensive of mediums and takes the longest turnaround time. The one real benefit is oils longevity. It will last for centuries which is something to consider when purchasing.
• ACRYLIC provides a sharp vivid image with the brightest colors and most versatile to use. It dries very rapidly and the turnaround time for a completed painting is weeks rather than months. 
• WATERCOLOR has an ethereal feel to it with lost edges and soft color washes. It can also be used well in defining a subject. It, too, is quick drying making for a quick turnaround time.
• INK is very similar to watercolor in it's appearance although more difficult to work with as it cannot be lifted off as watercolor. It is great for details and  works well on any subject.

Good, clear photos of the subject is crucial for quality work. You should be able to see the subject clearly and fully. Patrice can create from multiple photos if they are taken in good lighting, not blurry and  large formatted. 

Please send clear, 1MG (or larger) sized photos of the subject or scene. Photos must be uploaded from the contact page along with any other instructions, comments, or question you may have in the message box.  

A non-refundable deposit, 30% of the total commission price, is required once a verbal or email agreement is made before Patrice starts your commission. All commissioned paintings are non-refundable although Patrice will work with you, within reason, to adjust the painting after it has been completed and previewed.

You are agreeing to purchase a painting from an artist who paints each subject with her own unique style so only one adjustment to a finish painting will be made.  

Time frame is given once deposit has been paid. General turn-around is approximately 3-6 weeks for all except oil paintings. These usually take a minimum of three months to receive. 

Your painting will be shipped by USPS insured priority mail and tracking number will be given. Please make sure that Patrice has your current mailing address when ordering.

• Gift certificates are available for any amount or can be priced in accordance to a specific size, medium and subject.
  
• They can be snail-mailed or emailed as a digital file to the recipient with your personal message included. 
• Gift certificates are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
